Engagement Lead (Equitable publishing)

The University of York is committed to supporting open, equitable and sustainable publication for the outputs of research. As an Engagement Lead, based in the Library, you will leverage your position as a current postgraduate researcher, working with faculty colleagues to help gain insights into practices, approaches, and attitudes towards scholarly publishing. This may include undertaking interviews with colleagues, organising focus groups, and working to analyse the results of consultation exercises.

We are looking for current postgraduate researchers from all University faculties who can work collaboratively to undertake this work. Engagement leads will be expected to work for the equivalent of eight days across an eight week period. There will be flexibility in how and when work is carried out although attendance will be required for specific events and meetings on the main University campus with dates to be arranged.

To be the ideal candidate for this position you will have an interest in how scholarly research is published and communicated, but detailed prior knowledge is not required. An interest in trying to understand and engage with the needs of colleagues is more important. You will be able to use your own initiative and be comfortable working collaboratively within a small team. You will make effective use of digital solutions to communicate and organise activities.
